Natalia Gutkowski

Natalia Gutkowski is a PhD candidate at the Porter School of Environmental Studies and the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Tel Aviv University. She was a Research Fellow at the Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics at Tel Aviv University, a Fellow of the European Doctoral Program "Transformations in European Societies," and a Visiting Graduate Student at the Department of Anthropology at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Gutkowski's Master's dissertation won first prize in the Israeli Sociological Thesis competition, and her paper "Time and the other in development plans for Sahel El Batuf/Bikat Beit Natofa" won Cornell University's Institute for the Social Sciences's Land Theme Award. In 2014, Gutkowski co-founded the Research Section on Environment and Society at the Israeli Sociological Association. During the fellowship year, Gutkowski will examine Israeli sustainable agriculture policy and its implications for the Arab-Palestinian citizens of the state. The research project engages with state's anthropology, environmental anthropology, and science and technology studies. Gutkowski is the Israeli exchange scholar in 2015-16.
