Monica Magalhaes

Monica Magalhaes is a PhD candidate in Health Policy, concentrating in Ethics. Her primary interest is justice in the allocation of health care resources, and as a Graduate Fellow she will focus on the case of expensive treatments for rare diseases. Her other interests include the value choices involved in different methods for health measurement and their effects on allocation decisions, the role of social values in policy decisions, and public deliberation as a guide to social values. Monica holds an MSc in Philosophy and Public Policy from the London School of Economics and a BA in Journalism from the University of Sao Paulo. At Harvard, she has served as a teaching fellow in undergraduate courses in health care policy and health economics, and in graduate courses in public health ethics and research ethics.
