Marc Lipsitch is Professor of Epidemiology and of Immunology and Infectious Diseases and directs the Center for Communicable Disease Dynamics at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He was the founding co-director of the CDC’s Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics, where he remains as Senior Advisor. His scientific research spans experimental, methodological, modeling, and genomic approaches to pathogen biology and epidemiology. He has published on research ethics related to biosafety and human challenge trials, on science policy related to the COVID-19 pandemic and regulation of experiments with potential pandemic pathogens, and on incentives related to statistical lives.
