Kyle Hecht

Kyle joined the Center in March 2017. As Finance and Fellowships Coordinator, he assists in the processing of reimbursements and financial transactions, as well as the operations of the Center's various fellowship and grant programs. Kyle is a graduate of Harvard College (A.B. in Government, 2010), where he studied social movements and political process in the context of postwar Japan. Following graduation and a one-year fellowship at Waseda University in Tokyo, he worked in the San Francisco Bay Area for three years as a bilingual support specialist for two tech companies, as well a production assistant for two independent documentary filmmakers. He joins the Center most recently from rural Northern California, from where he worked as a freelance Japanese-English translator. An aspiring scholar of critical theory, art, and anthropology, Kyle's interests include Foucauldian genealogy, experimental forms of academic knowledge production and dissemination, the ethics and historical basis of documentary, ethnographic, and social science research methods, and the anthropology of the contemporary.
