Aleksy Tarasenko-Struc

Aleksy Tarasenko-Struc is a PhD candidate in Philosophy. He works primarily in ethics (including metaethics) and moral psychology, and he has serious interests in philosophical methodology, philosophy of mind, and the philosophy of action. Aleksy's dissertation addresses the following question: How is it possible for others to make essentially directed claims on me, claims whose validity is grounded just in our shared personhood? By way of an answer to this question, he argues for a view on which the awareness that another is a person involves regarding her as a potential source of valid claims on oneself. Aleksy has taught tutorials on moral skepticism, ethical objectivity, Nietzsche's Genealogy of Morality, and moral responsibility. He holds a BA in Philosophy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
