Michael manages partnerships and engagement for the Center's initiatives focusing on the learning and teaching of ethics and civics. In particular, he manages communications and outreach with K-12 schools, non-profit organizations and entities both internal and external to the Harvard community for the Democratic Knowledge Project (DKP). He also coordinates and amplifies the work of the Ethics Pedagogy Initiative. Michael's previous work at the Center also helped connect the projects like the Emergent Trends in Teaching and Learning Ethics at Harvard (ETTLE) and the Harvard Civics Initiative to internal and external partners as he managed the creation of supports for faculty who teach civic and ethical content at the University. He began this work in January of 2017 while working as a Research Assistant for Professor Allen on the National Ethics Project and the Presidential Task Force for Inclusion and Belonging. During that time Michael was a student at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Prior to that, he taught high school AP Government, U.S. History, and English. He has taught in his home state of Michigan, Tennessee, and in rural Malaysia as a Fulbright Scholar. He holds a degree in Secondary Education and Political Science from Hope College.
