The Offices of the President and Provost of Harvard University and the Edmond & Lily Safra Center for Ethics invite you to attend a celebratory symposium, honoring the leadership of Danielle Allen, James Bryant Conant University Professor, as she concludes her tenure as Center Director.
The Allen Years: Ethics Symposium celebrates Professor Allen’s visionary work during her years as the Faculty Director of the Edmond & Lily Safra Center for Ethics (2015-2023). From a renewal of the Center’s “foundation in community” to the creation of two major research initiatives, Allen has built on the Center’s earlier approaches to create a powerful, adaptive new model. Allen organized and integrated Center-affiliated experts to offer the nation critical guidance in real-time during the pandemic and steadily turned a campaign to improve civic education into a movement, while strengthening the Center’s roots at Harvard. She leaves it a vibrant, dynamic place, as the work highlighted by this symposium will demonstrate.
