Greg Scalise

Greg Scalise

Greg Scalise is a senior concentrating in Philosophy and the Classics, with a secondary in English. He is particularly interested in the differences between contemporary and ancient ethics, Aristotle’s ethics, and any part of ancient philosophy which now seems nonsensical. When not in class or studying Ancient Greek, Greg is a counselor with the Mission Hill After School Program, an editor with the Harvard Ichthus, and a trumpet player in the Harvard University Band. Outside of Harvard, Greg is a Cape Codder, a former oysterman, and a member of Somerville Community Baptist Church.

Financed with the Lester Kissel Grant in Practical Ethics, Gregory is exploring the question of how human beings ought to treat objects, specifically in cases in which one expresses an emotion or action that is generally conceptualized as designated for humans to an object, such as a broken computer, instead.
