Elaha Rahmani joined the Justice, Health, and Democracy (JHD) Impact Initiative in March of 2022 as the Project Manager. In that role she will manage all administrative, logistical, and coordinating functions of the JHD Initiative. Prior to taking on the role with the JHD, Rahmani served as a Congressional and Legislative Liaison at the Embassy of Afghanistan in Washington, DC; a project manager on a number of USAID-funded development projects in Kabul, Afghanistan; and she has carried out qualitative field research in Uganda, Tanzania, UAE, and Russia studying immigration policy, governance, and reform. Rahmani is very passionate about women’s health issues, particularly mental health in women suffering the consequences of forced migration, and AI ethics.

Rahmani received a M.S. in Global Affairs from New York University, where she was a fellow with the Provost’s Global Research Initiative. She spent time at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies as a Monterey Fellow on Russian Studies. When she’s not working, Rahmani enjoys travelling and long hikes with her border collie, Obi Wan Kenobi.
