The Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics is pleased to announce that former Senior Scholar (2002-03) Stephen Macedo will give the 2016 Lester Kissel Lecture in Ethics. Macedo is Laurance S. Rockefeller Professor of Politics at Princeton University and the founding director of Princeton's Program in Law and Public Affairs. He writes and teaches on political theory, ethics, public policy, and law, especially on topics related to liberalism, democracy and citizenship, diversity and civic education, religion and politics, and the family and sexuality.

His Kissel lecture will address his most recent book Just Married: Same-Sex Couples, Monogamy, and the Future of Marriage (Princeton University Press, 2015), in which he defends same-sex marriage, marriage as a civil institution in law, and monogamy, from the standpoints of justice and the human good.

This lecture is named for the late Lester Kissel, a graduate of Harvard Law School and longtime benefactor of Harvard's ethical programs and activities.
