Non-profit Founded by EJSCE Undergraduate Fellow Named TIME's Best Inventions of 2020 List

November 19, 2020

Today, TIME named the non-profit Upsolve to its annual Best Inventions of 2020 list!

Upsolve, was founded by Rohan Pavuluri '18 in 2016 while he was an Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics Undergraduate Fellow. Upsolve's product manager, Nicholas Brown '22, is currently an Ethics Undergraduate Fellow on a leave of absence. TIME presented the award in recognition of Upsolve helping thousands of low-income Americans who couldn't afford a lawyer file for bankruptcy protection for free, relieving over $250 million in total debt. According to Pavuluri, "Nick and I can both agree what we studied as ethics fellows at Harvard has been indispensable in building Upsolve. For example, how to effect systemic change and how to present bankruptcy as a civil right and consumer protection, not a moral failure, is a question of deep ethical importance."

Congratulations to these two Fellows on this recognition!
