The Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics and Harvard Book Store are pleased to welcome Susanna Siegel, Edgar Pierce Professor of Philosophy at Harvard University, for a discussion of The Rationality of Perception.

This is part of our speaker series, co-presented with the Harvard Book Store, featuring leading thinkers taking on tough problems that matter to us all.

Professor Siegel works in the philosophy of mind and epistemology and has taught General Education courses combining political philosophy and American history. She has published widely on the topic of perception. Her book The Contents of Visual Experience was published by Oxford in 2010, and discusses what kinds of things we can see. Her book The Rationality of Perception will be published by Oxford in 2017, and explores the ways that antecedent fears, beliefs, prejudices, and expertise can influence perception. Starting in 2017, she will teach a General Education course on violence and citizenship.

This event is free; no tickets are required. The book will be for sale at the event.
