Nicholas Bonstow

Nicholas Bonstow

Nicholas Bonstow, originally from Torquay, England, is a senior studying Social Studies and Philosophy. He is interested in political and social philosophy and the connections between history of philosophy, political theory, and intellectual history. Outside of the classroom, Nick is engaged in programs at the Institute of Politics, where he served as a student liaison for the Senior Judge of the Massachusetts District Court. In the summer of 2014, he worked at Microsoft’s Chief Strategy Office, where he participated in privacy and security projects. He is a staff writer and editor for the Harvard Political Review and The Harvard College Law Review.

Bonstow received a 2016 Kissel Grant to conduct work on his thesis, which considers questions related to why, and then the wisdom, of why the United States remains the only major Western liberal democracy to refuse to implement a consistent form of hate speech regulation. His thesis considers the normative questions of how speech ought to be regulated in the internet age.
