Congratulations to Edmond J. Safra Network Fellow Gillian Brock, who was recently selected as a joint winner of the Amartya Sen Prize Contest. The prize was awarded for a paper co-written with Hamish Russell, "Abusive Tax Avoidance and Responsibilities of Tax Professionals."A presentation of the work along with the prize award took place on November 8 at Yale University, as part of the Illicit Financial Flows conference (more information is available here).

The prize is named in honor of Amartya Sen, a Nobel Prize-winning Professor of Economics and Philosophy at Harvard University. Professor Sen was a charter Senior Fellow of the Ethics Center, one of a group of distinguished Harvard faculty members supporting the idea, in 1986, of an ethics initiative at the University. At present he is a Faculty Associate in Ethics.
